About Newtown Rugby Club

Newtown Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club in Newtown, Mid Wales. Newtown RFC is a member of the Welsh Rugby Union and is a feeder club for the the North Wales Regional team RGC1404

Newtown Rugby club formed in 1925 and played their first game against Oswestry on March 28 of that year. The club later disbanded in the 1960/61 season[3] and reformed in 1971 and on November 6th played against local rivals Welshpool. The club applied for Welsh Rugby Union membership in 1992 and was awarded membership on June 1, 1995. The club now fields two Senior teams as well as haveing a thriving Junior set up at all ages from Mini's through to Youth rugby. Newtown Rugby Club also fields a disability team, Newtown Dragons. Our facilities include a modern Clubhouse , separate changing facilities with two playing pitches, one floodlit .
